Gerald (Jerry) Eugene Culwell passed away on December 27, 2024. Jerry was born August 11, 1932 in Fairfield, AL to Jessie Mae Doles Culwell and Fred Blaylock Culwell Sr. He graduated from West End High School, Birmingham, AL and from Alabama Polytechnical Institute (Auburn University) in 1954 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of ATO Fraternity. He attended OCC and Officers Basic Training School at USMC Headquarters in Quantico, VA and served at Camp Lejeune, NC and Parris Island, SC continuing on Reserve Duty in Birmingham. He was honorably discharged as a Captain. In 1958 he returned to work at US Steel until 1963 when he became a sales engineer for the Okonite Company and was based in Orlando and Miami FL. In 1967 he began a career as a sales engineer with Culwell and Associates in Atlanta, GA, serving as Vice President and President until retirement. He was an active member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a member of the Mariners Class and an usher. Survivors are his wife of 69 years (married in 1955), Marijo Yaun Culwell; two sons, Jeff (Karen), Mike (Allison) and a daughter, Julie Auton (Gary); six grandchildren, Hannah Culwell Dreher (Joe), Kevin Culwell, Carrie Chandler Culwell, Alex Culwell, Davis Culwell, and Sidney Grace Culwell; great-granddaughter, Giulia Dreher; and brother-in-law, Peter Yaun. Jerry was cremated and his ashes will be placed in the Yaun family plot in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, GA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation (Parkinson's), Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood, SC, or Tunnel 2 Towers. A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
