Gertrude B. "Trudy" Smith

Gertrude "Trudy" Brannen Smith, 91 of Atlanta passed on Friday, October 28, 2016. She was born in Americus, GA to the late Eugene Brannen and Della Watson Brannen. Trudy grew up in Americus, GA, where she married and then moved to Atlanta. She was employed by the State of Georgia, Department of Transportation and the Department of Labor for 28 years. She retired from the State on April 29, 1983. "She loved her retirement!" Trudy was a member of the Peachtree Baptist Church in Atlanta for over 50 years. She was an avid member of the Athletic Club Northeast. She enjoyed the community of friends both in the church and the athletic club.
Trudy was preceded in death by three sisters, Eubgene "Genie" Johnston, Emma "Mae" Archer, and Dorothy "Dot" Brannen. Surviving is her son, Robert "Terry" Smith and daughter-in-law, Vikki Smith of Suwanee, grandchildren Ryan Smith (Olivia) of Buford and Lauren Smith of Woodstock and two great-grandchildren, Camden and Lily Kate. Niece, Lillie Grimes (Danny) of Atlanta, nephew, Gene Archer (Margaret) of Kansas.
Visitation will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, October 30, 2016 immediately followed by the 3:00PM service at Peachtree Baptist Church. Dr. Daniel Vestal, Interim Pastor is officiating. Reverend Adam Gray, Associate Pastor will direct the music. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
