STOWERS, Gladys Rustin (Hyatt)
Gladys Rustin Stowers Hyatt of Tucker, Georgia passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the age of 89. She was born in Atlanta on January 10, 1927 and married her high school sweetheart Jerry (Ernest Marine) Stowers in 1946. He passed away in 2004. She and Jerry served as missionaries for 29 years in South Africa with AEF/SIM. Gladys was a gifted artist, Bible teacher and soul winner and founded a women's ministry "Free To Be Me". Her autobiography, "We've Come This Far By Faith" recounts her life experience. In 2005 she married Elmer Hyatt who passed away in 2009. She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church. She is survived by her three children, Greg (Sue) of Paris, France; Marilyn (Mark) Prescott of Columbia, South Carolina and Deborah Kerr of Tucker, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister, Gwen (John) of California; her sister-in-law Bette (Tommy) of California; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation is Monday March 14 from 6 to 8 pm at A.S. Turner & Sons, 2773 N. Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia, 30033. The service is Tuesday, March 15 at 1 pm at Rehoboth Baptist Church, 2997 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, Georgia. Pastor Walter Sandell will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker, Georgia. A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
