Gladys Yawn Scanland, age 79, passed away Monday, July 27, 2009, in Decatur, Georgia from complications caused by respiratory failure. Gladys was born in Milan, Georgia on January 23, 1930, was a resident of Florida for 63 years, and had recently moved to Decatur, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Press L. Yawn and Audrey C. Yawn Grace, and brothers, Clem Lemuel Yawn and Charles M. Yawn. She is survived by her husband, James L. Scanland of Hernando Beach, Florida; daughters, Gail H. Henry of Decatur, Georgia, Wynette H. Stotz and husband, Gary, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; grandchildren Douglas Brent Henry and wife Susan of Jakin, Georgia, Kelly H. Scoggins and husband, Brett, of Avondale Estates, Georgia, Heather L. Bachtel and husband, Chris, of Tampa, Florida, and William Heath Ward and wife, Brigitte, of Sebring, Florida; and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Delena Rivers of Sebring, Florida, Joy Moore of Alexandria, Virginia, and Faye Crawford of Crestview, Florida; and stepchildren, James Christopher (Kit) Scanland and Katherine Louise Scanland, both of Hernando Beach, Florida, and Douglas
William Scanland of Tampa, Florida. Arrangements will be handled by A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur, Georgia. A memorial service will be held in Florida at a later date. A. S. Turner & Sons
