Gloria Kinlaw

Always a caregiver, Gloria Connell Kinlaw of Decatur, GA, died on October 27, 2013, surrounded by family. She grew up in Pavo, GA and graduated from Piedmont Hospital School of Nursing in 1941, becoming a well-respected surgical nurse at Piedmont. Gloria was an active member of First Baptist Church of Decatur and was always involved in her community and efforts to support those in need. With great humility, she touched many lives with small acts of grace, and provided wise counsel to family and friends.Gloria was always learning; she shared articles of interest with her grandchildren, underlining important items, and was a faithful author of handwritten letters in this digital age. She was a natural swimmer and loved basketball, which she played with relish in younger years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Earle F Kinlaw, Sr. She is survived by her sister, Sylvia Jones of Thomasville; children, Kin Kinlaw (Mary Ann) and Kathy (Bob Hamilton); grandchildren: Kelly (John), Jeffrey, Robert and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Garrett; step-grandchildren, Justin (Mikell), Alison (Toby); step-great-grandchildren: Gibson, Amelia, and Grace; and many loving nephews and nieces and wonderful friends, including members of the Joy Class at First Baptist. Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 1, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at A.S. Turner and Sons, 2773 N Decatur Road, Decatur. The funeral will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at 1st Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur 30030. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Benevolence Fund of the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave., Decatur 30030. A. S.
