Gloria Childress Knight Bird dies peacefully on December 19, 2015, at the age of 88. Gloria is survived by daughter, Jan Childress Steele, her husband Bob; daughter Joy Childress Davis, her husband, Joe: son Gregory Thomas Knight, his wife Jonna; and daughter in law, Linda Childress. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Gloria is preceded in death by Donald Clarence Childress, Lloyd T. Knight, Reginald Bartow Bird, her daughter Donna Marie Childress, Son David Wayne Childress, four sisters, and two brothers. Gloria was born in Atlanta, GA to John William and Dora Stanley Swann on June 19, 1927. A funeral is scheduled for December 22 at 2:00 pm with a viewing preceding at 1:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons in Decatur, GA.
