Gordon Wayne Redfern, 83, of Stone Mountain, passed away Monday, January 1, 2018. He is now at peace in Heaven. Born October 16, 1934 in Moultrie, GA, raised in Jacksonville, FL and Atlanta, he was the late son of Gordon Fletcher Redfern and Alma Perkins Redfern. He attended Murphy High School and Southern Tech Institute. Wayne was a Naval Reserve veteran and an enthusiastic sportsman – including golf, fishing and hunting. Several of his years included house boating on Lake Lanier.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly K. Redfern; sons: G.W. Redfern, Jr. and his wife, Sandy, and William Rusty Redfern; daughter: Penny Redfern Edwards and her husband, Ernie, and Peggy Marion Redfern; grandchildren: Chelsea Katlyn Redfern, Kelsey Brooke Redfern, and Spencer Wayne Redfern; sisters-in-law, Marion K. Fischer and Mary Redfern; and many more loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, in the Chapel of A.S. Turner & Sons.
