Grahm Robinson Lynch

Graham R. "Grady" Lynch, age 85, of Decatur passed away at Emory University Hospital on May 25, 2008.  Mr. Lynch served during World War II and receiving among other awards, the Bronze Star for valor and two Purple Hearts for wounds received during combat. After the war, he remained in the Army Reserve retiring in 1982 as a Colonel.  Mr. Lynch is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan and also received a master's degree from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  Upon graduation in 1949, he worked as an economist for the investment banking firm of Eastman Dillon and Company in New York while also working on his doctor's degree at New York University.  In 1964, Mr. Lynch was hired by the State of Georgia as a consultant to the state pertaining to state financing and investments.  He retired in 1988 as the Director of Investments for the State Employees' and State Teachers' Retirement Systems of Georgia.  Born in Clarksburg, West Virginia, he was married to the former Patricia Anne Hall, also of Clarksburg, for 53 years until her death on September 23, 2000. Together they raised 5 children, Mr. Graham R. Lynch, Jr. of Conyers, Mr. Philip H. Lynch of Atlanta, Mr. Peter I. Lynch of Tacoma, Washington, Dr. James E. Lynch of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Ms. Barbara Frances Lynch Peters of Atlanta. Additionally, there are 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great- Grandchildren. Mr. Lynch was a long-term member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 29th, Rev. Phil Wages officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
