Gregory George Javo, age 66, from Atlanta, Georgia, passed peacefully on July 4th, 2019, at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Gregory was a lifetime member of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation on Clairmont Road. Gregory loved his church and was a vigilant advocate for all his parish shut-ins. For years, he faithfully fed the homeless through St. John the WonderWorker here in Atlanta. He visited and helped numerous people. He was more selfless and giving than anyone we ever knew. He was truly an angel here on earth.
He was involved in the business of Fine Arts, and was instrumental in placing important art pieces around the world. He was a true artist, sculptor, painter, and photographer. He was a wonderful brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He never met a stranger, and all those who were lucky enough to meet him were blessed to have him in their lives.
He is survived by his brother Christopher Panos Javo, Sr, and his wife Karen, along with their children Christopher Panos Javo, Jr, Savannah Nicole Javo, & Michael Adam Javo; his sister-in-law Deborah Javo along with her children Alexander Michael Javo and Ashley Javo Eller, his Uncle Charles Pefinis, and his cousins: Angelic Newport, Mia Jenson, Melanie Pefinis, and the Savannah-Georgia Javos and Pappas families. It brings comfort to his family that his father George Nicolas Javo, Sr, his mother, Vasiliki Pefinis Javo, his brother George Nicolas Javo, Jr, and his brother Nicolas Michael Javo preceded him in death and were there to meet him in Heaven.
Visitation will be held at A.S. Turner & Son's, 2773 North Decatur Road, Decatur, Georgia, 30033 from 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, July 7th, 2019, with prayer service at 6:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation, 2500 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, Georgia, 30329, on Monday, July 8th, 2019 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta, Georgia. Pallbearers will be: Adam Javo, Christopher Javo, Alex Javo, Stuart Campbell, Michael Baine, Peter Zakas, Demetrios Hadjisimos, Pete Simon, and Gary Algers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation or to Gregory's favorite charity: St. John the WonderWorker.
