Hans Joachim Beyersdorff of Stone Mountain (formerly of Avondale Estates)
passed away 15 July, 2024 in Atlanta, GA. He was born June 25, 1932, in
Bremen, Germany, to Ernst and Hanna (Kimme) Beyersdorff.
Hans led a diverse and interesting life after growing up in Germany during World
War II. He spent his early working years in Kenya and Peru where he learned to
be fluent in Spanish and English while exporting commodities. That career
ultimately led him to Atlanta in 1962 where he continued exporting agricultural
products.
He was known for his work in the early days of development of the process used
in the production of pork rind pellets and the shipping of that raw material from
the USA to customers in foreign countries, especially to those in South
America. He especially enjoyed shipping Georgia pecans for Stone Mountain
Pecan Co. Monroe, GA, to customers in Europe.
Hans especially enjoyed his German Shepherds, tennis and a good game of
bridge with friends as an active member of the Avondale Community Club. One
of his more experienced bridge partners fondly remembered him when she
said: "He was a lovely man and a good bridge player. One time he bid to six
diamonds, and I didn't see how he could possibly make it--but he did."
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann Genovese Beiersdorff; daughter,
Renata Foote, and son-in-law, David Foote of Estero FL, and two grandsons,
Sean Foote of Norfolk, VA, and Colin Foote of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also
survived by brother, Udo Beyersdorff of Hudson, OH, and sister, Uta Beyersdorff
of Aarau, Switzerland.
Hans is preceded in death by two other siblings: brother, Wolf-Hugo
Beyersdorff, and sister, Margarete Beyersdorff , both of Bremen, Germany.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, Sept. 28, at A.S. Turner &
