Mr. Harold E. Smith, Jr., died on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, after a brief illness. He was born on July 4, 1926, the son of Harold E. Smith and Flonnie (Stancil) Smith, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Druid Hills High School in Atlanta and from Georgia Tech. In World War II, he served in the Air Force as an aerial engineer with the 54th Troop Carrier Squadron stationed in Alaska. After the war, he returned to Atlanta and became a C. P.A. and Attorney at Law. It was the dream of his life to have a cattle ranch in Montana, and for 15 years he was able to live that dream. In retirement, he chose to come back to warmer weather in Atlanta. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church. Harold is survived by his sister, Sara E. Smith; his niece Glenda and her husband Jim Shewmake; his nephew, Lee Jordan and his wife Jennifer; and a great nephew and a great niece. The funeral service will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, 2773 North Druid Hills Road, Decatur, on Saturday, June 18, at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Charles Black officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville, GA. If you wish, you may send a gift in his memory to First Presbyterian Church, Community Ministries, or Breakfast for the Homeless. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at A.S. Turner & Sons.
