Harold Warren Hobgood

February 4, 1940 — December 9, 2018

Harold Warren Hobgood, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 after an extended battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He is survived by his wife Ginny; daughter, Ginna; son, Hal and his wife Amy; and grandsons, Harry and Jack. He is also survived by brothers, James Ross (Shirley); Larry (Marilyn); sister, Carolyn Wheeler; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was the son of Etta Louise Ross Hobgood and Warren Hugh Hobgood.
He grew up in Cartersville GA, where as a boy, he had both a newspaper route and an early morning milk route. Harold was a graduate of the University of Georgia, having earned a degree in Real Estate. During his UGA days he married Ginny Crowe and later moved to Atlanta. He enjoyed a successful career in Commercial Real Estate and the restaurant business. In his leisure time he was a dedicated coach of youth baseball and football. Having a love for all outdoor sports, Harold enjoyed snow skiing, hunting and most of all, golf with his friends and his son, Hal. Harold was known to be a wonderful cook and was best known for his fried chicken and dressing and gravy. He also was known to add ingredients to old family recipes to “change them up a bit.”
Harold’s fondest memories were of spending time in South Dakota with friends and riding his horse, Slicker, at Gunbarrel Ranch.
A wonderful family man with a strong Christian faith, we take comfort that he was greeted into Heaven by Jesus, loved ones who passed before him, and his beloved dog Luke. He will be missed by many but is renewed in heaven.
