Harriet Evans

Harriet Williams Evans died peacefully on Friday, January 10. She was born October 13, 1929 in New Orleans. Most of her childhood was spent in Greenville, Mississippi and Jackson, among cousins, aunts, and uncles. She attended Ole Miss, where she was a member of Tri-Delta Sorority.

In the fall of 1951, Harriet married William "Bill" Evans of Columbus, Georgia. They were blessed with two daughters, Sharon and Susan. Bill's career took him to Fayetteville, North Carolina and Newport News, Virginia, before settling in Atlanta, where they lived for many years. Harriet moved to Canterbury Court in April 2016.

Harriet was a member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur where she taught Sunday School, was active in the WMU, and was a beloved member of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved and was loved by her family, her church family, and her Canterbury family. Harriet was friendly and vivacious, had a gift for conversation, and a smile for everyone she met. Her favorite book was the Bible, and her Christian faith defined her life.

Harriet was preceded by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Webber and Susan Glenn (John), five grandchildren: Bonnie Webber, Jack Webber (Liesl), Catherine Daniel (Peter), Bill Glenn (Lesli), John Glenn Jr (Anna), and six great grandchildren: Emma Grace, William, Evan, Lily, Ellie, and Bear.

A visitation will be held at 10am, Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Bridgepoint Church at Toco Hills followed by the funeral service at 11am. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Bridgepoint Church at Toco Hills.
