Mr. Harry Karafotias of Decatur died Sunday, February 13, 2005. He was born in Boston, MA on March 30, 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Atlanta in 1953, where he married his loving wife, Amelia. Mr. Karafotias owned and operated service stations in the Emory area, and celebrated 50 years in business this year. He was a member of St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church and a member of Druid Hills Country Club, where he pursued his love of golf. He was a selfless person who worked hard for the benefit of his family and friends, until his last day, when he was at the service station for 3 hours. He is survived by his wife, Amelia Karafotias; children, Carol Karafotias, Jim Karafotias, Mike Karafotias, Mimi Dobbie; daughter-in-law, Dede Karafotias; son-in-law, Michael Dobbie; grandchildren, Carey Karafotias, Amanda Karafotias, Michael Karafotias-Gibson, Chris Karafotias, Lesa Karafotias-Gibson, Andrew Dobbie, Eric Dobbie; brother, Mike Karafotias; sisters, Betty Tuden and Alice Niakaros; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He loved his family very much and was loved by his family very much. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 16th at St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church. Father Michael Evans will officiate. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. It was his last wish, that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Elias Antiochian Orthodox Church in his memory, 2045 Ponce de Leon Ave., N.E. Atlanta, GA 30308. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the church Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. A. S. Turner & Sons
