Harvey D. Pace, age 78, loving and adored husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 30, at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Betty, his daughter Patricia Rosenbloum and her husband, Malcolm of Atlanta, GA, and daughter, Dianne Connery and her husband, Frank of Plano, Texas; two grandchildren Scott D. Connery, Dallas, Texas, and Brian J. Connery, New York City, NY. In addition to his parents, Brown J. and Nellie Pace, he was preceded in death by one brother, Reverend Glenn O. Pace, of Richmond, Virginia. His late grandparents were Henry H. and Amanda F. Young of Richmond, Virginia. He is further survived by cousins and many friends and business associates around the United States, Europe, and Asia. He was born July 28, 1929, in Salisbury, North Carolina. To fulfill his military obligations, he joined the Merchant Marines during WWII. This began his lifelong love of travel. During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed on the Island of Guam. After leaving the military, he worked as a machine shop supervisor at the U.S. Marine Corps Supply Center, Albany, GA.. He later became a mechanical technology teacher in the Albany school system. He was a member of the Tucker Kiwanis Club in the early 1960s, and was a past president of the Atlanta Chapter of American Society of Tool & Manufacturing Engineers. In 1960, the family moved to Atlanta, GA, where he began his career in large machine tool sales which he very much enjoyed for the rest of his life. He traveled the United States and sold machines which were manufactured in Europe. In 1975, he began a new venture opening his own company, Pacer Machine Tools, Inc. in Atlanta. In 1977, he became a consultant for Mitsubishi Heavy Machine Tools, Tokyo, Japan, a position he held until his retirement in 2004. A memorial service honoring Harvey's life is being planned; the time and place will be announced later. A. S. Turner & Sons
