Hazel Lucile Dooley passed away on 2 September 2013 at Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah, from complications of pneumonia. She was 92 years old. She is survived by her only child, James W. (Jim) Dooley, who lives with his wife, Deneal, in Layton, Utah, and by her younger brother, John William (Billy) Bedford, who currently lives in Kennesaw, Georgia, with his wife Jacqueline Elizabeth (Jenkins) Bedford and the family of their daughter Cherrie (Bedford) Bowling. Hazel had five grandchildren: Dawn Minette Dooley (Roswell, GA); James Chandler (Dooley) McLaurin (Okinawa, Japan); James Brandon Dooley (Kapolei, HI); Joshua Owen Dooley (Scottsdale, AZ); and Aaron Thomas Dooley (Provo, UT). Hazel had been a widow for over 28 years, following the death of her husband and devoted companion, Clyde Wilbur Dooley, who passed away on 19 May 1985, four days before his 68th birthday. Hazel and Clyde were married on 9 November 1945 in Clarkston, Georgia, and lived in Clarkston the remainder of their entire married life, following the end of Clyde's U.S. Army enlistment at Tyndall Field, Panama City, Florida, where their son, Jim, was born on 30 November 1946. Hazel was one of four children born to James Harold Bedford and Mary Zella (Huckaby) Bedford. Maggie Pauline (Bedford) McAllister was born on 26 May 1919 and died on 15 October 1977; John William Bedford was born on 18 October 1923; Ethel Rebecca (Bedford) Richards was born on 25 June 1927 and died on 13 December 1975. Hazel lived with her son, Jim, and his wife, Deneal (Atkin) Dooley, in Virginia, before Jim's retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 2008, and, more recently, lived in Fort Lane Senior Apartments, in Layton, Utah, since August 2008.Hazel was a sweet, loyal, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a member of the Baptist Church and, for most of her adult life, attended the Clarkston Baptist Church. She was a true Christian, with a heart full of love, continually giving unselfish service and sharing both sorrows and joys with her family and friends. She will be missed here, but she now is home with family and friends who passed before her. She lived the good life and fought the good fight.
