Hazel Magdaline Hoppe Hugueley passed away on November 3, 2022 at the Benton House surrounded by loved ones. She was the wife of the late Charles William Hugueley.
Sacred Journey Hospice and the people at the Benton House were there with her until the end. They were a Godsend to the family.
Hazel was born on September 7, 1924 in Calumet City, IL, the daughter of the late Richard Ernest Hoppe, Sr. and Barbara Kinder Hoppe.
Hazel is survived by two loving sons Robert (Bobby) and his wife Barbara; Alan and his wife Connie. Hazel had two grandchildren Heather and her husband Turner Skipper; Beau and his wife Courtney Hugueley. She had four great grandchildren Cece Skipper, Henry Skipper, Charlie Hugueley, and Kenlee Hugueley. She also had many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Hazel was preceeded in death by two grandchildren Kristin and Rob Hugueley.
Hazel was a member of the St. Timothy United Methodist Church for 28 years where she spent many loving hours with fellow parishioners. She was also a devoted member of the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group which she inquired about until her death.
During her life she enjoyed helping others almost daily. She followed a note on her vanity, “How do I mimic Jesus today?”
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home in Decatur. Her funeral will be at the St. Timothy United Methodist Church on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Hazel will lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville.
The family invites all of those who loved their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to join them in celebrating her joyous life.
