Helen Elizabeth Bruce

Helen S. Bruce, age 90, died April 29, 2016, from complications of Alzheimers Disease at Cobblestone at Park Springs Nursing Home in Stone Mountain, GA. For 57 years, she was the loving wife of Thomas L. Bruce, who preceded her in death, and the devoted mother of two daughters. Born in Bunkie, LA, she graduated from Bunkie High School and moved to Baton Rouge in 1942, where she was employed at the Louisiana State Library until she became a full-time homemaker in 1959. Helen resided with her family in the Atlanta area since 1962, and was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Decatur, GA for over 50 years. She is survived by her daughters Deborah Newman Webb (Alton) and Elizabeth Lynn Wells (Gary), and grandchildren Karen "Kari" Buckindail (Don), Steven A. Webb, and Stephanie Anne Amodeo, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Edna Stokes Smith of Zachary, LA. Services are set for May 7, 2016, at Oak Grove UMC in Decatur, GA. Visitation at 10:00 am, Celebration of Life at 11:00 am with interment following in the Oak Grove UMC Cemetery.
