Helen Grace Shoemaker

Mrs. Helen Grace Shoemaker, 75, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2005.  Her precious son, Dave preceded her in death.  She was a devoted and loving mother and wife.  Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Dan J. Shoemaker, Sr.; her son, Dan J. Shoemaker, Jr.; daughters, Mary Rosalind Shoemaker Eaves and Nancy Annabelle Shoemaker Newell; granddaughters, Amy Marie Shoemaker Carpenter, Helen Margaret Eaves Strickland and Kelly Rosalind Eaves; grandsons, Scott Shoemaker and Joshua Sinko; great grandchildren, Winter Joy Eaves, Blake Carpenter, Bailey Carpenter, Darien  Sinko, Brody Sinko, Miriam Grace Strickland, and Alexander Shoemaker.  As a wife, she was my sweetheart and best friend.  Helen had been a dedicated member of Clarkston United Methodist Church.  She had served as President of the Ruth Moody Fellowship class and was also an alternate teacher.  She had been involved in Boy Scout work for handicapped children.  Helen experienced pain and suffering over the last several years, but she kept going with a positive outlook.  She accepted her pain with dignity and did not complain.  She continued to be a loving mother and devoted wife. As a family, we know that she is now with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  We miss her; however we are grateful that her suffering is over.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons, 2773 North Decatur Rd., Decatur, GA, with Rev. Chuck Strong officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 25th at A. S. Turner & Sons.
