Helen Jenkins

Helen W. Jenkins passed away on August 7, 2008 in Franklin, Tennessee. Mrs. Jenkins was a long time resident of Decatur, Georgia.  She was married to Marshall D. Jenkins, who preceded her in death as did her son, Dr. Ronald Jenkins (Kitty).  She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jenkins Riddle (John) of Nolensville, TN., and five grandchildren, Benjamin Jenkins and Anna Lea Jenkins of Birmingham, AL; Marshall Riddle of Murfreesboro, TN; Beth Riddle Atchley of Coker Creek, TN; and Sarah Riddle of Nolensville, TN.  Mrs. Jenkins was employed at Emory University for 60 years.  She began her career in 1945, as assistant director of food services, in 1955 she became the director and when food services contracted to an outside vendor in 1984, she became the food service liaison, a position she held until her retirement.  Her professional service also extended to membership in the American Dietetic Association, the Georgia and Atlanta Dietetic Association in which she served as President, the National Association of Colleges and University Food Service, Chairman of the Georgia Nutrition Council and the Atlanta Restaurant Association.   Mrs. Jenkins was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Decatur, GA where she served as a deacon, teacher and member of the Dunston Sunday School Class.  Services for Mrs. Jenkins will be at First Baptist Church, Decatur on Monday, August 11, 2008 at 2pm.  The family welcomes flowers or donations to the Jenkins-Williams Scholarship fund at Carson-Newman College. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6pm at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Monday from 1-2pm at First Baptist Church, Decatur. A.S. Turner & Sons
