Helen Light King, 92 of Buford, Brookhaven, Stone Mountain and Decatur, GA died on November 18, 2017. Helen Dorothy Light was born October 4, 1925 to the late James P Light and Mary Tatum Light of Buford, Georgia. She was the baby sister to older brothers, Wynson, Jacob and Robert and sisters, Sara Louise and Mildred. She graduated from Buford High School and Southern Business University. After 29 years of service with Sears Roebuck and Company in the personnel department she retired from the Sears Fashion Center in Tucker in 1987. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur and enjoyed volunteering with her Sunday School Class. Helen was a very giving and loving Aunt to her nieces and nephew and enjoyed taking them to the nearby Dairy Queen for a treat.
She is survived her brother, Robert and his wife, Elizabeth C. Light, and her nieces and nephews, Joan and Fred Orytl of Jacksonville, Florida, Harriet McDonald of Powder Springs, Cathy and Frank Harris of Conyers, Deborah Painter of Decatur, Jimmy and Ginger Light of Dalton, William Prater of Powder Springs, Christina and Kevin Rabinowitz of New York, and Michael, Angela and Hayden Harris of Palo Alto, California.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living of Decatur on Wynn Way and the family will be on hand to greet friends.
The family welcomes donations to the Alzheimers Association or the Orchard Resources of Atlanta (formerly Atlanta Community Ministries).
