Helen Veal

Helen Veal, 93, of Avondale Estates, died Saturday, February 25, 2012. She was born September 12, 1918 in Deepstep, Ga., the youngest child of Albert Gascar Veal and Claudia Mae Hicklin Veal. She is preceded in death by her three brothers and five sisters, and is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She graduated from the University of Georgia and was a dietician in VA hospitals and Emory University Hospital. She was a member of the Decatur First United Methodist Church, the Avon Garden Club and the Ikebana Ikenobo Society of Japanese flower arranging. She will be remembered fondly for her love of growing flowers and her beautiful flower arrangements. Graveside services for the family will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 28 in the Deepstep United Methodist Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the United Methodist Children's Home 500 S.
