Henrie Brooks

June 2, 1921 — February 26, 2014

Henrie Brooks, age 92, of Stone Mountain, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. A wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, she was born on June 2, 1921 in Ellaville, GA, to John Asa and Annie Belle (Turner) Murray, then as a young girl, her family moved to Talbotton, GA. Following high school, Henrie moved to Atlanta where she worked as a beautician and met Emory Brooks. After his tour of duty in World War II, they were married on December 16, 1945 and this year celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. A homemaker and active member of Scott Blvd. Baptist Church for 63 years, Henrie taught children in Sunday School and served on numerous committees. Surviving her are her husband, Emory, 2 sons and daughters-in-law -, Wayne (Gary Anne)Brooks and Murray (Cathy) Brooks; 5 grandchildren - Ashley Coleman, Bryan (Leta) Brooks, Charlie Brooks, Kiley Brooks and Todd (Nikki) Brooks; and 4 great grandchildren - Logan and Emily Coleman and Gabriel and Elise Brooks who lovingly called her "Mama".
