Henry Clifford Mize, 88, of Stockbridge, beloved husband and father, passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017. Born September 4, 1928, in Homer, he was the son of the late Henry and Annie Mae Powers Mize. Henry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He, with the help of his wife, Helen, owned his own company, Henry C. Mize Grading and Hauling, Inc., for over 30 years. Henry also enjoyed welding, wood working, fabricating. He was known to his family and friends as "Mr. Handyman", if something was broken he could fix it. His nieces and nephews always knew him as "Uncle Red" due to his fiery red hair when he was younger.
Henry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Costas Mize; daughters, Mary Mize and Laura Jordan and her husband, Keith; son, John Mize; grandsons, Jason Mize and Matthew Jordan; dog companion, Sam; sisters, Macie Kilgore and Libby Campbell; and many more loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl, Jim, and Clinton Mize; and sisters, Berta Mae Still and Jean Bolman.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, with a service at 3:00 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons with Reverend Larry T. Burgess officiating. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
