Herbert Ernst

Herbert Ernst, 84, of Decatur, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Born November 18, 1933, in Juehnde, Germany, he was the son of the late Hermann and Meta Beuermann Ernst. Herbert was a master wood craftsman who worked 59 years for Mortensen Woodwork, Inc. in East Point, Georgia. Herbert loved everything about nature and the outdoors. He was a life-long learner who enjoyed reading, history and traveling.

Herbert is survived by his wife of 47 years, Inez Burns Ernst; daughter, Tara Ernst; sister, Hannelore Frenz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ingrid Debray.

The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. at A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.

Flowers are welcome; however, the family invites you to plant a tree in memory of Herbert through the Arbor Foundation or any other organization.
