Born in Dalton, Georgia, on April 3, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Bernice McCamy. The 101-year-old matriarch was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women and once taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Dalton, Georgia. She married the Reverend R. Frank Crawley and they ministered to congregations throughout Georgia, such as Decatur First United Methodist, Griffin United Methodist and Northside United Methodist. One of her favorite stories about being a preacher's wife involved the time they accepted chickens instead of money-only to wake up the next morning to find a yard full of dead chickens! An accomplished cook, family celebrations and holidays always centered around the abundant southern feasts she prepared. She is also remembered for her love of playing bridge and watching the Braves as well as her sense of humor. A homebody at heart, she nonetheless traveled to Israel, Iran and Saudi Arabia. She was a caring mother of three, a doting grandmother of eight and a sweet great-granny of eight. In lieu of flowers, donations to the United Methodist Children's Home are encouraged.
