Mr. Howard “Spud” E. Rasmussen, Jr. of Alpharetta, died Monday, February 15, 2010. He retired from the U. S. Navy and later from DeKalb County Water and Sewer Department. Mr. Rasmussen was a former member and supporter of the Decatur Civic Chorus and a member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia B. Rasmussen, and sister, Carolyn Johnson. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Rick Hozman, Julia and Fred Meehling; grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Ashley and fiancé, Alexander, Adam, Justin, and Nathan; and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Sherry Rasmussen. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Altus Hospice foundation, 1 Dunwoody Park, Ste. 128, Atlanta, GA 30338. A private interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
