Hugh E. Hopkins

January 29, 1926 — April 21, 2005

Mr. Hugh E. Hopkins of DeKalb County died Thursday, April 21, 2005.  He was a native of DeKalb County and graduated from Avondale High School. He served his country as a quartermaster in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  After service, he owned and operated a furniture store in downtown Avondale Estates.  In his retirement, he traveled for 21 years in their Airstream Trailer.  Mr. Hopkins is survived by his wife, Annie Mae Hopkins of Stone Mountain, GA; son, Charlie Hopkins and his wife, Tammy of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Linda Darlene Capronica of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Jennifer Roach, Rob McKendrick; three great-grandchildren, Patterson McKendrick, Ian McKendrick and Avery Roach; brother, Harvey Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the AFLAC Cancer Center of Children?s Healthcare of Atlanta, 1405 Clifton Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA  30322.  A.
