Hugo Rolando Alfaro, Sr.

Hugo Rolando Alfaro age 83 of Atlanta died on Tuesday December 14, 2021. He was born in Antofagasta, Chile and came to the United States at the early age of 21. Hugo arrived in New York with a job as a dish washer. He eventually followed his older brother Eduardo to Atlanta, where he began his career as a cook. Hugo continued working in the food industry for several years and even opened his own restaurant alongside the family. Hugo’s career took a turn in 1992 when he started working at Georgia Tech. He was a grounds keeper with them until his retirement and that is where his passion for yard work began. He was a son of the late Juan de Dios Alfaro and Laura Elvira Alfaro Tapia, Hugo was one of 10 children.  Hugo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geysha Betty Alfaro.  He is survived by his daughter Brenda (David) Cochran of Atlanta; sons Hugo (Sarah) Alfaro of Tucker and David (Scott Bellomy) Alfaro of Tucker; grandchildren, Corinne Cochran, Caitlin Cochran, and Charles Alfaro.. A funeral mass will be said Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Monsignor Albert Jowdy serving as celebrant.;There will be a procession from the funeral home to the church on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM.  The family will receive friends Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.  A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
