With deep regret and sorrow, we announce that Ibrahim George Bitar passed away peacefully in the late hours of Sunday, Oct. 19th 2008 at the age of 86. He was born in Beirut, Lebanon, graduated from the InternationalCollege in 1942 and attended the AmericanUniversity of Beirut. He immigrated to the United States in 1950 and settled in Los Angeles where he worked for Bank of America. In 1958 he returned to Lebanon, got married and worked in the banking industry. In 1987 he joined his wife and son in the US and lived in Atlanta until his passing last Sunday.
Ibrahim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mrs. Liza Edward Bitar; his son, Ghassan “Jason” Bitar and his wife Imane Bechara Bitar; and grandchildren, Yara and Rami Ibrahim; his brother, Dr. John George Bitar and his family of Vienna, Va.; and his sister, Mrs. Inaam Abi-Samra and her family of San Diego, CA. Wake Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 23rd, between 6:00pm and 8:00pm at A.S. Turner & Sons funeral home at 2773 North Decatur Rd.
