Imogene Rainey

Imogene Kee Rainey, 82, of Tucker died Saturday, October 13, 2007, at National Health Care in Mauldin, South Carolina. She was a 1946 graduate of Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and was employed at the School of Nursing for 33 years as Assistant to the Director. In 2006, the alumni society honored her with the Excellence in Student Leadership Development Award. She was a member of Briarlake Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years in 1997, Clarence Mitchell Rainey, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Joy and her husband Bill Purvis of Tallulah Falls, GA; son, David and his wife Jane Rainey of Greer, SC; grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Erin Purvis of Anderson, SC, John Purvis of Alpharetta, Stacy Rainey of Columbia, SC, and Ben Rainey of Greer, SC; great grandchildren, Tyler & Cory Purvis; and one sister, Helen Samuels of Orlando,FL. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 am at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 2284 Candler Road, Decatur, Georgia, 30032, on Friday, October 19, 2007. The Rev. Larry Sullivan of Briarlake Baptist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mercer University in memory of Imogene Rainey to the College of Nursing.
