Jack T Sandow died on March 10, 2025, at the age of 103.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, H.G. and Agnes Sandow and four sisters, Mildred Lewis, Sarah King, Helen Mobley and Helene Williams and his previous wife of 61 years and mother of his five children, Lucille (Tillie) Zimmerman Sandow.
Jack is survived by his wife, Claire Gamble Sandow and her children, Bill Gamble and wife Christy of Stone Mountain, and Heather Hassert and her husband, Ted, of Raleigh, NC, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his children with Tillie: Jack Sandow and his wife, Patti, of Hoboken, GA, Jane Jones , of Marietta, GA, Ken Sandow and his wife, Tina, of Gastonia, NC, Fred Sandow and his wife, Charli of Camano Island, WA, Harold Sandow and his wife, Angelika of Crawfordville, FL. Jack has thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Jack was a native of Decatur, attending Decatur Boys High and North Georgia College. In WWII, Jack served as a B-24 pilot in the Army Air Corps, flying combat mapping missions out of India and the Philippine Islands. In 1948, Jack went to work for General Motors in the Doraville Assembly Plant and retired as Director of Material at the Lakewood Plant in 1982. He was an active member of the Decatur Presbyterian Church, Christ Church and Mountain Park Baptist Church. Jack was always ready to share his faith story of God's grace and many blessings and leaves a living legacy of Christian faith.
Jack enjoyed a number of hobbies, but most notable was his involvement in the Atlanta Theater Organ Guild where he participated in the rebuilding of a theater organ and its placement at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia..
Friends and family will always remember his quick wit, wise counsel, tenacious spirit and unshakable integrity.
