Jacob B. Hughes was the fourteen year old son of George B. Hughes and Cheryl Glickauf-Hughes. He was a ninth grade student at Druid Hills High School. Jacob was a good student when he applied himself and he applied himself often enough to attend accelerated math and science classes. He loved soccer and played ten consecutive years or 20 seasons all with the Atlanta Youth Soccer Association and the last five years for the Atlanta Youth Soccer Associations State Select Team. He was playing up one year with the fifteen year old age group and planned to tryout for the Druid Hills Soccer Team. Jacob was known for his tenacity on the field and his loving sprit off the field. He was concerned about the environment and most importantly about other people. As an organ donor Jacob has improved or saved the lives of several teens in Georgia and the life of one teen in Maryland. He is survived by his mother, father and his sister Mackenzie Hana Hughes. He will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 17th at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday prior to the service. If students wish to attend please dress comfortably T's and jeans are fine Jacob would like that.
