James Bernard Holcombe

June 9, 1928 — March 19, 2015

Mr. James Bernard 'Nardy' Holcombe, Jr., 86, formally of Decatur, died peacefully, Thursday, March 19, 2015. Nardy graduated from Atlanta Boys High School and the University of Georgia. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a member of University Heights United Methodist Church (UHUMC), Atlanta Wood Carvers, and American Legion Post 66. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Hecker Holcombe; sister, Jacqueline Holcombe Grace of Youngsville, Louisiana; daughters, Dana Cooper and husband Norman, Carolyn Moss and husband Mike, Kathy Wayland and husband John, and Nancy Parker and husband David. He leaves nine grandchildren: Chris, Elliott and Kathryn Cooper, Elizabeth and Alex Moss, John and Sarah Wayland, and Ryan and Phillip Parker. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. at University Heights UMC in Decatur with Rev. Stacey Rushing officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Tucker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at UHUMC, 1267 Balsam Dr, Decatur, GA 30033. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Sunday, March 22 at AS Turner and Sons in Decatur.
