Mr. James Clifford (J.C.) Bailey of Decatur died June 14, 2005 at age 90. He was born October 25, 1914 in his grandfather?s house on the courthouse square in Decatur. He attended Decatur High School, Georgia Tech and Atlanta Law School. Prior to World War II, he worked for Atlanta Title and Trust Co. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and returned to Decatur with his wife, Dorothy Brown Bailey. He took over the family?s business, Bailey?s Shoe Shop, until his retirement. He was a long-time member of The First Baptist Church of Decatur where he taught Sunday School for 28 years. He is survived by his wife of 61 years; his son and daughter-in-law, J. Fred and Linda Bailey, Decatur; sister, Mrs. Lucile Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Bailey donated his body to Emory Medical School. A memorial service will be held Sunday June 19, 2005 at 2 o?clock in the chapel of The First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Avenue Decatur, GA. Dr. Joe Williamson will officiate.
