Mr. James Edward Rast, 79, of Tucker, died Saturday, August 22, 2009. He was born in Birmingham, AL on September 17, 1929 during the Great Depression. He graduated from the University of Alabama and entered in the U. S. Army in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He also graduated from Officers Training Academy. He spent the last 45 years as a drywall contractor. The loves of his life were his Lord, his family and his church. In 1981, he received his Lord Jesus as his Savior and Lord and knew for certain that he would spend eternity with him. Mr. Rast is preceded in death by his parents William F. and Lois Nail Rast, and brother William D. Rast. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Peacock Rast; daughter, Ann Virginia Rast; son Clay F. Rast; grandsons, Johnathon J. Rast and Kevin Bryant. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Dr. Dennis Mock and Rev. J. Paul Jones officiating. Interment, Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday at A. S. Turner & Sons.
