James Everett "Jim" Morton III, 67, of Decatur, was born October 19, 1944, in New London, Connecticut. He was the only child of Susan Barfield and James Everett Morton, Jr. Jim was a 1962 graduate of Decatur High School and received a track scholarship from Florida State University. Mr. Morton completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University in 1978. His company, Jim Morton & Associates, was involved in real estate development and was well known throughout the Southeast for its good work. He was an avid history buff – particularly the Civil War – and loved exploring the lineage of the Morton family. He is survived by several cousins. The memorial service will be held 11 AM, Saturday, June 2, in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. Dr. Don Maynard and Dr. David Naglee will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 AM prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.
