James (Jim) Franklin Flewellen passed away on 5/5/2024 at the age of 63. He was a much beloved husband, father, and grandpa (known as "Jimpa") and will be dearly missed.
Jim was born in Atlanta and raised in Decatur, GA by his parents, Francis and Martha Flewellen. After graduating from Columbia High School, Jim attended Georgia Tech, then switched to Georgia State University, where he received a BS in Mathematics and Education. Jim married his love, Lorene Gamble, in 1981, and they embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. They have two children and lived in Boise, ID, Tacoma, WA, and Wheaton, IL before relocating back to the Atlanta metro area. Jim taught middle school math before discovering a lifelong interest in technology and gadgets, leading to a transition into an IT programmer, analyst and most recently, a Senior Business Analyst. Jim loved to play golf, barbecue, garden, spend time in nature, travel, and tell "Dad Jokes." Most recently, the addition of his two grandchildren into his life brought him a new joy, keeping him on his toes.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lorene Gamble Flewellen, daughter Caitlin Flewellen (Davy Crockett), son, Tyson Flewellen (Samantha Webb), granddaughter, Evelyn Crockett, grandson, Davy Crockett III, and nephew, Tony Flewellen, son of his late brother, Dan Flewellen.
