Funeral services for Mr. James Franklin Clay, 89, of Decatur, Georgia will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons. James will be laid to rest in the Historic Warsaw Cemetery, Duluth. Mr. Clay was received into the hands of the Lord on Saturday, September 11, 2010. James enlisted in the US Army in 1940 and served 5 years during WWII. He spoke proudly of being in the 20th Engineers' Battalion. He served out of Fort Benning. James was preceded in death by his son, Rusty Clay; his son-in-law, David Smith; and his grandchildren, Louis Lafferty and Leslie Brumbelow. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Annie Clay, 2 daughters and 2 sons, Marlene Smith of Louisiana, Doug and Maryann Brumbelow of McDonough, Brenda and Billy Long of Decatur, Ricky and Linda Clay of Snellville. He is also survived by his sister, Henrietta Bourque, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Warsaw Cemetery and Church Preservation Association, Inc., 4605 Wickford Circle, N.E., Roswell, GA 30075. Friends are invited to visit with the family Monday, September 13th from 6 – 8 P.M. at A. S. Turner & Sons.
