James Franklin Panter, Jr.

James Franklin (Jim) Panter, Jr., passed away January 5, 2018, at his home in Lawrenceville, GA, after a battle with cancer. He was born October 23, 1962 in Atlanta, GA to Margaret S. and James F. Panter, Sr.

A lifelong Baptist, he graduated from Lakeside High School, Class of 1980. Jim attended Mercer University, Atlanta, for 2 years and transferred to Presbyterian College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business. After college, Jim was employed with Georgia Duck and Cordage Mill, Avondale Estates. Having a 31 year career with the same company, Jim became Vice President National Accounts, Distributor Sales with Fenner Dunlop Americas following several company mergers.

Jim was a family man. He loved Abbie. He loved Aierelle and Presley and chose to help Abbie raise them. They became a very close and caring family.

Jim was truly a people person, kind, and respectful to all. He loved all sports, especially baseball. He played in various semi-pro leagues, the last being the Atlanta Men’s Senior Baseball league with the Red Wings. He was a sports trivia specialist.

Jim is survived by his wife Abigail (Abbie) Parker Panter, two daughters, Aierelle Marie McFall and Presley Kay McFall, parents Margaret S. and James F. Panter, Sr. of Atlanta, sisters Laura Panter Ozment (Randall) of Dublin, GA, Elizabeth Panter Beal (John) of Atlanta, numerous nieces, a nephew, aunts, an uncle, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at A.S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, GA, with James Overstreet officiating. Interment will be in Chastain Memorial Park, Blue Ridge, GA.
