James Harold King

December 12, 1920 — October 17, 2011

James Harold King, 90, of Decatur, died October 17, 2011. A native of Clayton, Georgia, Mr. King attended North Georgia College, served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific, returned to America and graduated from Piedmont College. His first job was as a teacher and later the principal at the Persimmon School in Rabun County. Mr. King was later employed by the Georgia Department of Labor, retiring in 1972 as Director of Purchasing. A short while later, he was employed by the IRS, where he retired again in 1983. He was a long time member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church. Mr. King was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Cannon King and is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Venita and Bob Ellington of Loganville; son John King of Torrence CA; grandson, Robert P. Ellington III of East Point; sister-in-law, Kate King of Clayton; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 2 PM, Thursday, October 20, in the chapel of A. S. Turner & Sons with Rev. Ellynda Lipsey officiating. Entombment, Floral Hills Memory Gardens. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St. Timothy UMC, 5365 Memorial Dr, Stone Mountain GA 30083. The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 PM prior to the service at A. S. Turner & Sons.
