The Life Story of James Hiram Massey IV
James Hiram Massey, IV was born on Friday, June 11, 2004 at 3:09 p.m. His first nickname was “Mama’s Sweety”, a name given by his mom immediately after his supernatural childbirth without pain and meds. He was known by family and friends as “Quad”, affectionately known as “Handsome” by his mom and Grandma Young, and “Grandma’s Big Boy” by Grandma Massey. He often called Grandma Young, “NaNa”. During his prenatal stage, doctors noticed that there might be something “not right” with James. After his birth, his parents did all they could do to restore James: prayed, fasted, confessed, saw specialists, surgeons, had surgeries and therapy treatments, even driving to a specialist in Macon, GA to get some resolution. His fate was set – to bring joy, smiles and laughter to all he contacted. He loved hugs, cuddling, and bath time. He affected so many lives and touched so many hearts. James was a member of World Changers Church International's Children’s Ministry and was in the Mighty Conquerors’ class. We all felt as if we were touched by an angel. He was apart of the Dekalb County Community School Based Program. James also attended Pediatria Healthcare for Kids and graduated from Preschool in June 16, 2009. After a hospitalization in July 2009, James was placed in hospice care on August 1, 2009 at Hospice Atlanta. During his 5½ months in hospice, Grandma Young devoted herself and spent every weekend with James. After 5½ years of fighting, this terminal disease called Mitochondria Disorder consumed James’ body. On Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 4:08 p.m. with family by his side, he went home to be with the Lord to receive his complete and total healing. James is survived by his parents, James and Tamara Massey III; his little brother, Troy Massey; great grandfather, Jimmy Lee Young; grandparents, Roger and Naomah Young, Sr., James and Sherri Massey Jr.; his aunts and uncles, Roger Young Jr., Delores Young, William Young, Mary Harris and Berry and Sherrika Tshibanda; 1st cousins, Amber Young, Jonathan Young, Tony Swanson, and Jasper Harris; devoted Aunt Jodi Price, and tons of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, family, friends, caregivers, nurses, therapists, and medical professionals.
