James Jerome Rice, 95, went home to be with the Lord May 12, 2015. He was born in Athens, Ga April 15, 1920, to the late Samuel Burton Rice and Maude Cromer Rice. He grew up in the Grant Park area where he met his late wife of 73 years, Joan Marsh at Grant Park UMC. They raised their daughters in the East Lake area for many years. James had a career as a draftsman at Lockheed and then at Rich's Dept. Store until his retirement. He was instrumental in helping develop the plans for Rich's expansion to the many shopping malls in the Atlanta area. James was also an extremely gifted self-taught artist who enjoyed working in many different mediums. His beautiful works will be enjoyed by his family members for generations to come. One of his favorite hobbies was researching his family's genealogy. James, a loving and caring husband and father, is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Jane, and his brothers Burton and Jack. He is survived by his daughters Janet and Joan, 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. His memorial service was held May 18, 2015 at A. S. Turner and Sons funeral Home and Crematory
