James "Jim" Robert Twiggs

September 9, 1946 — October 7, 2016

James "Jim" Robert Twiggs, better known by his grandchildren as Old Jimmy Boy and G-Pop, passed away on October 7th, 2016, at 70 years old. Jim is survived by his loving daughter, Kelly Harwell and her husband, Robert Harwell; his step son, Joe Terry and his wife, Kerry Terry; five beautiful grandchildren: Mason Harwell, 21 years old, Jayden Harwell, 10 years old, Bristol Terry, 18 years old, David Terry, 15 years old, and JoJo Terry, 15 years old. Also, his dear friends whom he treasured and were family to him: Carol Hackman, Ken Duke, and Tammy Butler.

Jim was a minimalist and loved for things to be simple. He didn't do extravagant. He lived a simple life and treasured his family, God, his flower gardens, and his beloved Bonsai trees. These things made him happy. He was different from anyone I've ever known. Without question, he was one of a kind. He had his ways and that's the way it was going to be. We were laughing the other day about one of Jim's quirks: holiday cards, he expected a card on every holiday from his daughter Kelly, when I say every holiday I mean every single one, from New Year's Day to Christmas Day and every holiday in between. If ever a holiday was missed, which happened one time and one time only, Jim would be furious and not talk to her for a week. We never understood how much sending a simple card truly meant to him until that day. The small things that anyone did for him, meant the most to him. These were the things he remembered and talked about the most on his final days. We all forget how the little things can have the greatest impact on someone's life. This is something I learned from Jim that I won't forget, to never stop doing the little things for my loved ones. As fitting as it is, Jim's final resting day will be on Columbus Day and rest assured, Kelly will definitely have a holiday card to send with him.

Jim was lucky enough in life to find the love of his life, his soul mate, Peggy Twiggs. He loved her completely and I know he didn't waste a second running in to her awaiting arms in heaven, when he passed away. He missed her every day and with that, you can find peace he's right where he wants to be, with exactly whom he wants to be with.

Jim was also lucky enough to find a job which he loved and worked at his entire life, he was a mechanic for Ga State Patrol and he was very proud of his career, which he retired from. It was one of his proudest achievements.

Jim will be missed by us all and will forever be in our hearts. He wouldn't want us to be sad for too long or cry too much. He'd want us to grieve if we need to grieve, but honor him by living our lives to the fullest and loving those we surround ourselves with, completely. Be sad today but smile tomorrow, for he's back in the arms of a wonderful woman, whom loved him unconditionally, as he did her. There's nowhere else he wanted to be more. We love you Jim.
