James L. Mccready, Sr.

James L. McCready Sr., 83, of Hilton Head Island, S.C. died at his residence on Sept. 23, 2011. He was born in Plano, Illinois on Feb. 10, 1928 to Forest E. and Ruth Garber McCready. As a child his family moved to the Atlanta area where he later married Christina E. McCready, his wife of 65 years. He spent most of his adult life in Decatur, Ga. where he was active in the Decatur Optimist Club, Boy Scouts, and other community services. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and loved ll sports. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Mr. McCready moved to Hilton Head, S.C. in 2003 after a 35 year career with Uniroyal. He is survived by his wife Christina F. McCready, his son James L. McCready Jr, both of Hilton Head, a sister Patricia A. Winn of Dallas, Ga., nices Ann Smalls of Madison, Ga., Ruth Ann Patrick of Idaho, Carol and Lynn McCready of Los Angeles, Ca., Mrs. Terry C. Bell and Ellen P. Winn of Dallas, Ga., nephews Richard H. Winn of Dallas, Ga. , Forest E. McCready III and Forest E. McCready, IV of Palmetto, Ga., and Steve McCready of Harrisonburg, Va. Visitation at A.S. Turners in Decatur will be Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. Graveside services at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be the nephews. A.S.
