Mr. James Lamb Johnston, age 89 of Sautee, passed away Tuesday, May 08, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness. James Lamb Johnston was born on July 14, 1917 in Gainesville, GA. He graduated from Gainesville High School and attended GA Institute of Technology. He served in the United States Navy on the Destroyer Tender U.SS Markab. He was Chief Petty Officer during World War II in the Pacific theatre. He married Elizabeth Cooper of Atlanta January 17, 1942. They were married for 59 years. His wife Elizabeth died in April, 2001. He is survived by their three children, Peggy Johnston Nesbit of Powder Springs, GA, Tim Johnston of Sautee-Nacoochee, GA, Elaine Johnston Roller of Commerce, GA; sons-in-law ,Vance Nesbit and Robert Roller; and daughter-in-law, Courtney Johnston; 7 grandchildren,: Scott Nesbit, Heather Boggess, Rachel Johnston, Alice Johnston, Hoke Johnston, Elizabeth Roller and Anna Roller; and 2 great-grandchildren, Claire Boggess and Graham Boggess. He served in Decatur on the Decatur City Commission for two terms and as Scoutmaster of Troop 163. He served on the sessions of Decatur Presbyterian Church and Nacoochee Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be made to Nacoochee Presbyterian Church, PO Box 87, Sautee-Nacoochee, GA 30571. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007, 6 - 8 pm Nacoochee Presbyterian Church, Sautee-Nacoochee. Also on Thursday, May 10,2007 ,11 am -1 9pm , A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, with the services on Thursday, May 11 , 2 pm, Decatur Presbyterian Church, Decatur. Interment will be in Decatur Cemetery immediately following service. With a Celebration of the Life: Saturday, May 13,2007 at 12 noon at Nacoochee Presbyterian Church, Sautee-Nacoochee.
