James Loyd "Red" Adams of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away Saturday evening, November 5, 2005, at the home of his oldest son in Signal Mountain, Tennessee. He was 99 years old. His wife, Eda Georgia Garoni Adams of Stone Mountain, Georgia, preceded him in death in October of 1999. Red, as he was known by his many friends, was a Captain on the City of Atlanta Fire Department until his retirement in 1960, when he built his home on acreage in Stone Mountain. Red was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church (later known as Candler Park Baptist Church) in Atlanta, Georgia, where he and his wife were members since 1932. He is survived by his two sons and their families, Jim Adams of Signal Mountain, Tennessee and Tony Adams of Stone Mountain, Georgia. A private family-only graveside will be held at Crest Lawn Cemetery on Tuesday, November 8, 2005. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Adventa Hospice or to the hospice of your choice. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, November 7, 2005, at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home on North Decatur Road.
