James William (Bill) Hightower

Mr. James William (Bill) Hightower, 81, of Lakeland FL, and formerly of Atlanta GA, passed away Friday November 23, 2007 at Lakeland Regional Hospital. Bill was born in Atlanta GA on May 31, 1926 to Nina and John Charles Hightower. He worked for 1st National Bank of Atlanta; now know as Wachovia, for 35 years. In 1986 Bill retired as Vice President at the West End Branch. He moved to Long Beach Mississippi where he enjoyed fishing. In 1991 he moved to Anna Maria Island Florida were he enjoy playing golf, continued his love of fishing, and enjoyed activities with his grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren very much. Bill was a decorated Veteran. He served his country during WW II as a Coxswain 1st Class in the Navy. He is survived by his Daughters Pamela Askey husband Robert Askey and Karen Lentz husband LTC (RET) Michael Lentz of Lakeland Florida.; and 4 grandchildren, Ryan Slama, Justin Askey, Casey Askey and Michael Lentz of Lakeland Florida. The family will receive friends on Sunday November 25th from 6:00-8:00 pm at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home Decatur, GA. A funeral services will be held at A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home, Decatur on Monday November 26th at 11:00 a. m.
