Jane Atkinson

Jane C. Atkinson was born December 4, 1931 to John A. Copland, Sr. and Jewell Cochran Copland, was born and reared in Columbus, GA. As a young adult she moved to Atlanta, GA and married Taylor Eugene (Gene) Atkinson, Sr. She is survived by 4 of their 5 children: Alicia Blanton, Taylor Atkinson, Robert Atkinson, and Cris Carlisle; and by her loving grandchildren: Sean Blanton, Tiffany Atkinson, and Camellia Atkinson; and by her nephews Al Copland and Jim Copland and their families. Mrs. Atkinson was in retail for the downtown Muses's Men's Clothing Store and eventually was manager of the women's lingerie department at their Greenbriar location. Following retail was a long employment with Emory University Hospital where she was a unit manager for many years until retirement. Mrs. Atkinson passed quietly at her "beloved" Emory Tuesday morning, April 14, 2015. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to A. G. Rhodes Care Facility or Emory Presbyterian Church, which was her church-home where she served in various ways through many years, but she was most known for her delicious, homemade foods and her personal interest in members of the congregation. Always putting others before herself, she ministered to the sick, whether they be family, friend or acquaintance. Graveside services will be held on Friday April 18 at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Ralph D. Abernathy Road, Atlanta, GA 30310 followed by a memorial service at 1:30 pm. at Emory Presbyterian Church, 1886 N. Decatur Road, Atlanta, GA 30307. A. S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home & Crematory
