Jane Efurd Watkins

Jane Efurd Watkins died June 15, 2016. She was predeceased by husband, Charles Brown Watkins, M.D.; son, Robert Joseph Watkins; and parents, Zoe Dove David and Robert Thomas Efurd, Sr. She is survived by sons, David Brown Watkins (Nancy), and John Charles Watkins (Diane); grandchildren, Ashley, Matthew, Christopher and Phillip Watkins; greatgrandchildren, Harper and Logan Watkins; brother, Robert Thomas Efurd, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Jane was born September 21, 1928 at Emory University Hospital. She attended Druid Hills Schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1945. In 1949 she received her A.B. degree from Agnes Scott College. In 1950 Jane and Charles were married. This union lasted 52 years until Charles died in 2003. Jane had many interests: travel, interior design, needlework and genealogy. She was able to trace her family back to the Magna Charta Barons. Jane was past regent of Cherokee Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and past president of Thomas Johnson Chapter, Colonial Dames of 17th Century. She was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of the American Colonists, United Daughters of War of 1812, Magna Charta Society, National Huguenot Society, Continental Society, and Daughters of Indian Wars. Graveside services will be held at 11 :00 AM on Saturday, June 18th at Decatur Cemetery. The family requests that those desiring may send memorial contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17th from 5 to 8 PM at A. S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home and Crematory, Decatur.
